A paint from the 3rd Generation Acrylics AIR line for aircraft models, a water-thinnable acrylic in a 17 ml bottle. PRU Blue matches the BS381C/636 standard and is a deep medium blue. It sprays like a lacquer, thins with water or acrylic thinner, and is non-toxic and non-flammable.

The history and use of the shade

The abbreviation PRU comes from the photographic reconnaissance units of the RAF. This shade was applied overall to high-altitude unarmed reconnaissance aircraft, which were meant to disappear against the sky at great heights. The blue thus replaced the usual camouflage and became the hallmark of British photographic reconnaissance aircraft.

Use and thinning

• Applied with a brush or an airbrush, straight from the bottle or thinned with water.
• Thinned with water or acrylic thinner, never with mineral spirits or nitro thinner.
• Self-leveling, fast drying, minimal tip dry on the nozzle.
• Ideal for overall single-color models, where an even coat shows to advantage.
