RLM 74 – AIR

RLM 74 - AK 3rd Generation Acrylics AIR (17 ml)

A water-thinnable acrylic paint of 17 ml from the AIR aviation range. RLM 74 is a gray-green tone with a flat finish and high covering power. The paint sprays like a lacquer, self-levels and is ready for the airbrush, yet it is thinned with water or with AK acrylic thinner and it is non-toxic and not flammable.

Historical use

RLM 74 Graugrün was one of the upper colors of the classic mid-war fighter scheme RLM 74/75/76. It covered the upper surfaces of Luftwaffe day fighters from 1941, typically the Bf 109 F and G and the Fw 190, where it was paired with RLM 75 above and the light RLM 76 on the undersides and the sides.

Use

• Thinned with water or with AK acrylic thinner, cleaned with water while still wet.
• Airbrush unthinned or slightly thinned, usually at 15 to 20 PSI.
• Suitable for a brush as well, because the self-leveling suppresses strokes.
• Best over a sprayed base coat or over a primer, and the soft transitions of the scheme are handled with misted coats.

Who it is for

For modelers building German day fighters of the middle and late period of the war.

Shake before use. Work in a ventilated space and keep out of the reach of children.
