Paint Forge Roman Letters Stencils M – a stencil with the letters of the Latin alphabet

A stencil from the brand Paint Forge out of the Stencils range with a motif of the letters of the Latin alphabet, listed in size M. According to the name a sheet of 14 x 9.8 cm corresponds to it, that is the smaller of the pair of sizes the motif is sold in. It is not a decal and not a mask cut for a particular model: you pick and put the letters together yourself, so you can spray exactly the lettering you need. According to the name this motif does not carry numerals, and the brand has a separate stencil with numbers for those.

Use

• The surface has to be dry and degreased. With crisp lettering every speck of dirt shows more than with a pattern across an area.
• Fix the stencil with masking tape. A shift of a millimeter during spraying means a smudged letter and repainting the whole spot.
• Spray at low pressure, perpendicular from above, and in two or three thin coats. One heavy coat will seep under the edge of the cutout.
• Lay the spacings of the letters out dry in advance, so that the text does not end up tight against the edge of an area.
• Clean the stencil right after use. Dried paint in the fine cutouts of letters is the most common reason a stencil is used up sooner than it would have to be.

Who the stencil is for

The smaller sheet suits places where you need small captions and short markings: crates and drums in a diorama, plates on bases, tactical markings on hardware, texts on figures and science-fiction models. It works mainly in smaller scales, where a large sheet would get in the way during spraying and the type would be oversized. Anyone who needs longer lettering and larger letters will reach for the L variant with its sheet of 14 x 20 cm.
