A round base 25 mm across is the most widespread format for infantry figures in wargaming. According to the name, the pack from AK interactive holds ten pieces, so it comfortably equips a whole unit. The base gives the figure stability, protects it during handling and at the same time serves as a miniature piece of terrain on which you can show off your scenery skills.
The surface of the base comes alive with texture paste, sand or small stones; once it has dried, an earthy coat, a wash and drybrushing are all it takes. Tufts of static grass or small flowers add the final touch. The rim of the base is traditionally painted a single color, which visually ties a whole army together on the gaming table.
Larger models can be given the sister 40 mm bases from the same product family.
Sticking to the widespread diameter pays off in practical terms too: figures on bases of the same size line up easily into formations, fit into transport cases with magnetic sheet, and leave no room for argument when range is measured. Ten pieces in the pack cover an ordinary squad, so there is no need to pick them up one at a time.
