Sand – AK GOUACHE

Sand – AK Gouache (AK interactive)

Sand – AK Gouache is a modeling paint from AK interactive's gouache range, meaning classic gouache. Gouache is a water-thinnable paint made of covering pigments and a water-based binder. Unlike watercolor, it is opaque, not transparent, and dries to a matte, velvety surface. The shade Sand is sandy and is used to imitate sand, dust and dry buildup on equipment and terrain. It is supplied in a 20 ml tube. Note that this is a modeling paint, not a kit — a model and other accessories are not included in the package.

Why Gouache Suits Weathering

A key property you will not find in ordinary acrylics: once dry, gouache stays soluble in water again. The manufacturer states that a dried coat can be reactivated repeatedly with plain water. In practice this means you can blend, soften, refine or partly wipe off the effect at any time — it is a forgiving paint that lets you step back. That is exactly why it suits dust and grime, where the result is tuned gradually and rarely lands right the first time. The paint dries quickly and, per the manufacturer, can be applied over ordinary acrylics, enamels and oil paints, as well as onto plastic, paper or cardboard.

Use

• Sand and dust buildup on vehicles, equipment and dioramas.
• Dusting running gear, fenders, lower areas and drivetrain parts.
• Dry buildup on terrain, figures and accessories.
• Thinned with plain water — from rich coverage to a fine veil.
• A dried effect can be blended and adjusted with water until you are satisfied.

Who It Is For

For modelers who want weathering under control and do not want to risk an irreversible step. Thanks to water reactivation it is friendly to beginners, and experienced modelers will appreciate it as a fast tool for dust layers with no thinners.

It is a good idea to fix the finished effect with a covering varnish, or it can be disturbed by water again. Ventilate while working, do not ingest the paint, and keep out of the reach of children.
