A set of photo-etched parts for a model of the Sea King HAS.5 helicopter in 1:48 scale. The thin parts replace the simplified elements from a kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Sea King HAS.5 is an anti-submarine variant of the British naval Sea King helicopter. The abbreviation HAS places the machine among submarine hunters, that is among the tasks for which it carries search and guidance equipment. Machines of this size have a great many grilles, brackets and steps on the outside, and it is precisely these that are simplified most in a kit.
Photo-etched parts for a model in 1:48 scale. Etched sheet is far thinner than a part from a kit, so grilles, placards and small rods look more convincing in scale. The list of parts, their placement and which sections of the kit are removed before fitting are given in the manufacturer's instructions.
Separate the parts with a sharp blade on a hard surface rather than with cutters, so that they do not bend. Make the bends in an etch bender or between two blades, and always along the whole length of the edge at once. They are glued with super glue, applied in a minute drop with the tip of a wire; cement for polystyrene has no effect here. Degrease the parts before painting and give them a primer coat, otherwise the paint will not hold on the smooth surface and will peel off during handling. Lay the small parts out on adhesive tape beforehand so that they do not get lost, and work over a light surface on which even a part the size of a poppy seed can be seen.
The set is for modelers who have work with tweezers already behind them and do not mind fine mechanical work. The kit, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
