The package holds eight miniature ship's bells of 5 mm. It is a small fitting for wooden ship models, not a kit. A higher number of pieces in the package makes sense for a part that is easily lost and that is often fitted to a model right at the end, when it is most vulnerable to damage.
A ship's bell is among the typical recognizable details of sailing ships and of later vessels as well. On a model it is placed where the real subject had it, usually on the forward superstructure, by the railing or near the steering position. It is hung in a simple bracket or on a crossbar and tends to be completed with a thin thread standing in for the lanyard of the clapper; it is precisely this small addition that makes a big difference on a finished model.
The part is small, so work with it using tweezers over a mat with a raised edge. Glue it with the smallest possible amount of super glue, so that it does not run over the shape of the bell. If you want the metal look, just polish the bell and coat it with clear varnish; otherwise use a primer for metal and then a brass or golden paint. A fine dark wash will pick out the shape of the bell and emphasize its rim, but do not overdo it, as on an area of 5 mm it quickly becomes dominant.
The accessory is supplied unpainted. Glue, paints and further parts are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
