Tamiya Finishing Abrasives Ultra Fine Set - abrasive papers (P1200 / P1500 / P2000)

This set of abrasive papers by the Japanese manufacturer Tamiya contains five sheets in three very fine grits: one sheet of P1200, two of P1500 and two of P2000. It is the finest level of sanding, which follows on from coarser work and brings the surface of the model to a smooth finish. The papers can be used dry or wet and their surface resists clogging.

Use

  • Final smoothing of a surface before spraying paint or varnish
  • Softening the transitions left by coarser sanding (for example after the Fine range)
  • Unifying the sheen and removing small scratches
  • Sanding between coats of varnish for a perfectly smooth result
  • Dry and wet use, with less dust when sanding wet

Intended for modelers who are finishing a surface and want a smooth, even base under gloss varnishes and decals. The Ultra Fine Set is the ideal finishing step after sanding with coarser grits; the two sets together cover the whole sanding process on a model.

Five sheets in the finest grits: one P1200, two P1500 and two P2000. They serve for the final smoothing of a surface.

Use the Ultra Fine (P1200 to P2000) right at the end, once the surface has been sanded with coarser grits and you want to smooth it under a gloss varnish.

Yes, the papers take dry and wet sanding alike. Wet sanding keeps the dust down and leaves a more even surface.
