The Eduard Tempest Mk.II Weekend 1:48 masking set. The ready-shaped masks are stuck onto the clear part and replace drawn-out cutting from masking tape.
Responsibility details are not available.
The name is a bare one, but the kind of goods is clear: this is a masking set for a plastic model of the Hawker Tempest Mk.II fighter, not photo-etched parts. The masks are cut for the parts of Eduard's kit in the Weekend version and are stuck onto the cockpit glazing before the paint is sprayed. The same type is also made as a photo-etched set, which is a separate item.
The Tempest Mk.II differs from the better-known Mk.V in its powerplant: instead of a liquid-cooled H-24 engine it received an air-cooled radial, so it has a markedly different nose. The cockpit kept its bubble canopy and the low rear fuselage, which on the model means a large rounded transparent area where masking by hand holds things up a great deal.
Wash the clear part in lukewarm water with a detergent and let it dry. Lift the mask off with tweezers, lay it on and press it down with a soft tool from the center toward the edges, so no bubble is left anywhere. On the rounded bubble, press the edges down repeatedly; the material will conform to the shape. Apply the paint in several thin layers and take the mask off once it has set.
The package holds masks only. The kit, the paints and the glue are not part of it.
