A plate with the engraved relief of a scaly cloak in a corsair style. Pressing it into soft modeling putty gives a surface of regular scales which would take hours to engrave by hand and would still not come out evenly. Check the dimensions of the plate and the material on the packaging. The depth and the density of the relief decide how large the figures are for which the plate is suitable.

Use

• Roll the modeling putty out into a thin and even layer.
• Dampen the plate and the putty lightly or wipe them with a release agent, because otherwise the putty sticks into the relief.
• Press evenly over the whole area, best of all with a roller rather than with your fingers, so that the impression is equally deep everywhere.
• Lift the impression off while the putty is still pliable, lay it on the shoulders or the back of the figure and shape the folds.
• Once it has cured, trim the edges, work the transitions in with filler and paint the surface with a wash in the recesses.

For modelers of fantasy and historical figures, for those who do conversions and for builders of dioramas. A scaly cloak is a rewarding element with pirate, sea and dragon motifs, but the same pattern finds use on aprons, bags or the carapaces of creatures as well. The plate is a lasting aid that can be used over and over.
