The Japanese Battleship Fuso 1944 is a printed Kagero publication on the Japanese battleship Fuso in 1944. You are buying a book, not a kit and not a modeling accessory.
Responsibility details are not available.
A title from Kagero's naval line. The name is unusually precise in this case: it sets out not only the ship but the year 1944 as well. With warships that is a telling detail, because the armament, the radars and the paint all changed over the course of service.
The Fuso was the first of the pair of Japanese battleships of her class, brought into service while the First World War was still on. In the 1930s she went through an extensive rebuild, after which she gained the exceptionally tall multi-level superstructure that is utterly typical of Japanese battleships. The main battery consisted of twelve 356 mm guns in six twin turrets spread along the length of the hull. Toward the end of her service the anti-aircraft armament and the radar fit kept growing, so the appearance of the ship in 1944 differs noticeably from her state in the preceding years.
Anyone building a model of a Japanese battleship always settles one question first: which period to capture. The number and placement of the anti-aircraft weapons, the type of aerials and the shade of the paint in the late configurations differ from the state after the rebuild of the 1930s. A subject bounded by a single year therefore makes it easier for a modeler to decide which version to build, and makes it plain to a collector which stage of service is meant.
This is a printed publication. It is not a kit and not an accessory for a model; the package holds no parts.
