A light blue shade from the acrylic range of the Italian brand Lifecolor. The name refers to the German aviation shade RLM 65 and is completed by the number of the American FS35526 color standard.
Light blue tones come into their own on ship and naval subjects differently from on a hull. Most often they are the lower surfaces, which are meant to lighten things visually, and the base of a water surface on a diorama, where light blue is combined with darker tones for depth. For a water surface a simple rule holds: the shallower the water and the closer to the ship, the lighter the tone, and the transitions are made gradually, not in one line. The shade equally suits the light lower surfaces of floatplanes and carrier aircraft, which belong inseparably to a naval scene.
For modelers who build a whole scene around a ship, and for builders of aircraft, for whom the light blue of lower surfaces goes without saying.
