Lifecolor UA236 Bianco Avorio Italiano, 22 ml

An Italian ivory white from the Lifecolor range in a bottle with a volume of twenty-two milliliters. It is not a pure white: bianco avorio is a warmer tone shifted slightly toward yellow, which behaves considerably better on a model than a white straight from the tube, because it does not look flat and lets shadow show. The paint is acrylic, thinned with water or with the brand's own thinner, and applied with a brush as well as an airbrush.

Use

• Italian subjects where an ivory white is specified
• interior surfaces and details where a pure white would be too cold
• lightening darker shades without shifting them toward gray-blue
• an undercoat beneath yellow and sand tones, which cover badly on their own

How to apply the paint

Shake the bottle thoroughly before use, as white pigments settle to the bottom especially readily. Light shades cover less well and call for more thin coats, particularly over a dark base, where it pays to lay down a light primer first. For an airbrush thin the paint to the consistency of milk. Watch out for sanding through: white surfaces reveal every scratch and every imperfection in the filling.
