The leather of American kit has a warm brown-red tone, and Lifecolor US Army Uniforms Russet Brown aims at exactly that. A water-based acrylic paint for figures, leather equipment and small accessories.
Responsibility details are not available.
Russet is the traditional designation of the brown the American army dyed its boots, belts, pouches and the straps of field bags. It is not a cold chestnut or a chocolate brown but a tone with a clearly red undertone, which on a figure tells leather apart from the cloth of the uniform at once. The shade US Army Uniforms Russet Brown from the Italian maker Lifecolor is a water-based acrylic paint intended for figures and accessories in small scales.
Cloth and leather reflect light in completely different ways. Mix both from one brown and the figure collapses into a single surface. Russet holds enough contrast against olive green uniforms without turning the kit into an ornament. Worn leather is also not uniform: on the toes of boots, on the edges of a belt and on the buckles it brightens toward orange, while in the folds it falls into a deep brown. It is enough to lay the base down over the whole area and then to work only with the extreme values.
It suits figure painters who build American crews and infantry of the Second World War and the postwar era, and equally modelers of vehicles, where leather details come alive only once they do not merge with the rest of the kit.
Stir the contents of the package thoroughly before use. Store it well closed at room temperature and out of the reach of children.
