The dark green with a gray cast offered by the acrylic paint Lifecolor Dunkelgrun Grau matches a tone already shifted once toward gray, that is what dust and wear do to fabric.

The name joins the German words for dark green and gray, and that is exactly what the shade does: it holds a dark green position but with a pronounced gray undertone. The acrylic paint Dunkelgrun Grau therefore does not start at a pure green but some way further on, at the tone cloth has once it has been in service for a while.
New weave tends to be cleaner in color than modelers remember from photographs. Dust, repeated washing and sunlight gradually draw the color out of it, and the result moves toward gray before it moves toward a lighter tone. A shade with a gray undertone already has that step behind it. On a model you can then continue in two directions: add a richer green into the shadows and give the areas their depth back, or add a lighter tone on the crests and strengthen the impression of sun.
For modelers of figures who want a green uniform without a colorful cast, and for builders of vehicles where the green needs to be kept restrained. It is also useful as the middle link between a dark and a light green.
Stir the paint thoroughly before work. Store it closed, out of the reach of children and out of direct sun.
