The yellow Keltainen Yellow from the Lifecolor Finnish aircraft shades is a water-based acrylic paint; the Finnish word keltainen means simply yellow.
Responsibility details are not available.
This rich yellow tone carries the Finnish name keltainen in the maker's designation and belongs to the shades Lifecolor put together for the Finnish Air Force of the Second World War. The base is acrylic, water-based, just as with the rest of this group.
During the Second World War a pronounced yellow served above all for quick recognition in the air and from the ground. It appeared on bands around the fuselage, on leading edges or wingtips and on engine cowlings. It was an area meant to be seen from a distance, so it was mixed rich and little broken. On a model it therefore usually covers only a smaller part of the surface, but it is very much on view: careful masking of the edges and an even coat pay off with it. Yellow also comes out best over a light ground, so it proves worthwhile to prepare a light base under it and to build the final richness only on top of that. The sharp boundaries of yellow fields will moreover stand a little tidying up, because they are precisely what is seen best on a model.
It will pay off for anyone building an aircraft with pronounced recognition elements who does not want to look for the richness of the yellow by mixing. It is applied with the brush and the airbrush alike.
Keep out of the reach of children. Work in a ventilated room and stir the contents before use.
