The decks of Italian warships had a gray tone of their own, and that is exactly what Italian Regia Marina Grigio Piombo Ponte from the Lifecolor acrylic range offers. A water-based acrylic paint for the horizontal surfaces of Regia Marina models.

The deck gray shade of the Italian wartime navy from the Lifecolor acrylic range. The Italian word ponte in the name points to the deck, and grigio piombo describes a gray with a leaden, slightly cool character. That is precisely the difference from the color of the sides: the deck tone is a color of its own, not the same gray used one level down. The paint is acrylic, water-based.
Why the deck has a different tone
A horizontal surface receives light from above and reflects the sky; a vertical side, on the other hand, receives shadow and the water. Period schemes reckoned with that, and the decks were given a shade that broke the ship up when seen from a height. On a model this difference decides the believability more than the accuracy of any single tone: a model painted in one gray from top to bottom looks like a casting, a model with a distinguished deck looks like a ship.
For modelers who build Italian cruisers, destroyers or smaller units and want to separate the decks from the sides with the right tone. In larger scales it also serves as a base into which lighter and darker transitions are then set according to the wear of the deck.
Keep out of the reach of children, work with good ventilation and close the container carefully after use.
