Imperial Japanese Navy Camo Green Type 21 belongs to the camouflage schemes of the Imperial Japanese Navy: a water-based acrylic paint in a subdued green tone intended for naval camouflage.
Responsibility details are not available.
Japanese ships did not wear one color throughout the war. The base was gray, which every naval arsenal mixed its own way: at Kure, Sasebo, Yokosuka and Maizuru the shade came out somewhat differently every time. Camouflage fields then came onto such a ground, and it is at them that Imperial Japanese Navy Camo Green Type 21 is aimed: a subdued green without brilliance, meant to break up the outline of the hull and the superstructures.
A greenish tone, not a green one
Camouflage greens occurred in several variants with the Imperial Japanese Navy, and the designation Type 21 is one of them. This is not the landscape green known from ground vehicles: the tone is grayed and subdued, because it was meant to work against the water and the shoreline, not against woodland. On a model this shows in that the area does not shout and keeps to its gray surroundings.
It will be reached for above all by modelers of Japanese ships who do not want to judge the green by eye and want it in accord with the gray base. It is useful too for scenes where Japanese subjects meet vegetation and a green tone is needed that will stay suppressed.
Store out of the reach of children and do not swallow. Ventilate when spraying and protect your airways; close the container well after work.
