Concrete does not have one color but a range of gray tones according to age and damp, and the basic value of it is represented by the acrylic shade Concrete from Lifecolor.

Concrete does not have one color. A fresh slab is darker and cooler, once dry it lightens, after years outdoors it turns gray into a dusty tone and after rain it darkens again for a few hours. A modeler needs one reliable starting value from all that, on which the rest is then built, and it is exactly that which the shade Concrete from the Lifecolor acrylic range offers.
In dioramas with vehicles there is often more concrete than of anything else: the slabs and panels of parking aprons, retaining walls, bunkers and fortifications, piers and quay edges, beside which coiled ropes and stowed canvas lie. It is precisely this contrast between a hard gray area and soft textile that gives a scene depth. Horizontal panels moreover look different from vertical walls: the surfaces that are walked and driven on are always more worn and lighter.
