An empty cartridge case looks different from a new one: the brass on it darkens into a brownish tone, and it is exactly this state that Spent Shell Burned Brass from Lifecolor captures.
Responsibility details are not available.
A Lifecolor acrylic shade for discarded, already fired cartridge cases. Against a clean brass it is darker, warmer and dirtier, so on a model it clearly distinguishes the used pieces from ammunition made ready in crates.
It is precisely this difference that does a lot of work on a diorama. A small heap of cartridge cases at the foot of a gun or pieces spilled on the floor of a fighting compartment give a scene action at once, but only when they do not have the same color as a full crate nearby. With the same shade the scene loses its readability.
Typical deployment
Recommended procedure
The effect is strengthened when all the cartridge cases are unified first and only then random pieces are gone over with this shade. A dry brush with a lighter brass along the edges works well too, letting the dark tone sit in the recesses. Shake the paint properly before work and apply it in thin coats.
For builders of dioramas and modelers of military vehicles who want the ammunition in a scene to carry traces of use and not merely to be uniformly golden.
Keep out of the reach of children. Work in a ventilated area.
