Coach Cream is a modeling paint from a coherent Lifecolor range devoted entirely to the finishes of British railroad vehicles. The name of the shade is aimed at the cream color of passenger cars. Cream is a light tone shifted toward yellow that differs from a pure white enough that white cannot replace it.
Light shades are the most demanding part of the work on a model. They cover less well than dark ones, they will show every unevenness of the surface and they take hurried application badly. It therefore pays to work patiently in thin coats and not to try to cover an area all at once. The reward, though, is an effect nothing else will replace: a cream band on the side of a car is what gives a two-color train its character. The range contains a crimson shade for passenger cars alongside it, so both colors of the scheme come from one family.
It is intended for modelers of British railroads and builders of layouts who put together passenger trains in a two-color scheme. It will find use outside railroads too, everywhere a subdued cream is needed.
