A medium step for interiors and doors

The grooves repeat every 0.75 mm, which came from converting thirty thousandths of an inch. A half-millimeter sheet stays pliable and is easily set inside finished parts, where there is no room for thick plastic. The longer edge of the sheet is thirty centimeters, the shorter one half of that.

Cladding you only see through an open door

In 1:35 scale one board works out at 2.6 cm, in 1:48 scale at 3.6 cm and in 1:72 scale at 5.4 cm. That is exactly how the wooden lining of an interior cab wall looks, or the bulkhead between a cab and a cargo area, or double doors into a store. When they are opened, the viewer sees into the vehicle, and a smooth wall would give away bare plastic at once.

Setting it into a finished part

Cut a piece somewhat larger than you need, hold it inside and trace the outline with the point of a needle. Only then trim it to size, because plastic cannot be lengthened again after a cut. In the corners where the walls meet, glue in a thin strip as a cover strip, and the joint will disappear without filling. Before painting, wash the whole part in soapy water and let it dry in the air, otherwise grease from your fingers will leave marks under the coat. Make the handle or the latch from thin wire; a plastic imitation tends to be too coarse in this scale.
