A kit of a caricature figure from the Weird-Ohs range made famous by the American brand Hawk. It is not a model of an aircraft or a vehicle but a humorous little character in the exaggerated, caricatured manner that took hold in American popular culture of the 1960s. The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The scale is not normally given for figures of this range; the size of the finished figure can be found on the packaging.
The Weird-Ohs are kits of grotesque little characters with oversized heads, bulging eyes and exaggerated expressions, mostly linked to cars and motoring. They were created as a counterpoint to serious models of vehicles and became a collecting classic; the individual figures have names of their own built on a play on words. The name of this character refers to impatient waiting and to starting an engine, which matches the way it is conceived.
Caricature figures have large smooth surfaces and little engraved detail, so every remnant of the parting line shows on the finished model. Fill the joints after gluing and sand them carefully, and only then apply the base coat. Work the painting from the lightest areas, leave the skin and the eyes until the end and work in thin coats; on a strikingly colorful figure a full saturated shade looks better than too much shading. The eyes and the teeth are the main expressive feature of these characters, so it pays to line them in with a fine brush and a dark thinned paint, so that they stand out visually.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
