An injection-molded plastic kit of the YF-19 prototype from the fictional world of Macross. Hasegawa is a Japanese manufacturer whose science-fiction range draws on the same mold technology as its aircraft models — crisp edges, finely engraved panel lines and exact fit of the parts. This is a kit, not a finished collector's model.
In the world of Macross the YF-19 is the prototype of the Advanced Variable Fighter program, that is of a new generation of variable fighter. In its construction it starts from the form of a tailless aircraft with a pronounced swept wing and two engine nacelles; the designers gave it shapes that deliberately balance between a real prototype aircraft and fantasy. That is exactly why this model builds well even for people who otherwise do only real machinery.
Cut the parts off with sprue cutters with a margin and clean the remains of the gate up with a scalpel and fine abrasive paper. Bond with a thin cement for plastic, which runs into the seam by itself. The pale shades this machine usually carries need a good primer and laying on in thin coats, or the seams will print through under them. Before the decals, varnish the surface over with gloss and use softener so that the sheets settle into the engraved lines; a final matte or semi-matte varnish then evens the whole surface out.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
