A diameter of 0.3 mm is the most universal nozzle size in a modeling airbrush. It manages a base coat over a whole fuselage and over large areas, but at the same time it can produce a spray fine enough for camouflage and soft transitions. Against the finest nozzles it is moreover much more tolerant of the consistency of the paint, so it is easier to work with and clogs less often. If you are not sure which size to choose, this one is a safe choice.
Tighten it gently, as overtightening tends to be the most common cause of cracking. Never clean the inside with a wire thicker than the opening of the nozzle, because a widened edge will spoil the spray irretrievably. For cleaning, use a thinner matching the chemistry of the paint used, and a soft brush. Always pull the needle out backward and never push it forward through the nozzle. The best prevention is a flush right after you finish spraying, as dried paint destroys nozzles more reliably than ordinary wear.
