About product

Master Tools 0.2 mm rigging for ship models

A fine rigging line of 0.2 mm diameter intended for the realistic rigging of the masts, the yards and the standing rigging of models of ships and sailing vessels. It replaces ordinary thread, holds its shape and keeps a steady tension, so that the resulting rigging looks faithful even after the build is finished. The thicker 0.2 mm variant suits the main runs of the rigging and the more prominent lines, where the thread is visible.

Use

  • Thread the ends through the holes or secure them on the belaying points and tension them gently.
  • Secure the knots and the joints with a spot of cyanoacrylate glue.
  • For clean tensioning, lead the rigging smoothly between fixed points, so that the lines do not sag.
  • Trim the surplus with a sharp knife or scissors only once the joint has dried.

Who it is for

For builders of models of ships and sailing vessels who want faithful and straight rigging, and also for modelers adding antennas and bracing to other kinds of equipment.

It is a material for building, not a model. Glue and paints are not included in the package.

FAQ

The thicker 0.2 mm thread suits the main, more visually prominent runs of the rigging. For fine details choose the thinner 0.1 mm variant.

A spot of cyanoacrylate glue at the knot or the belaying point works well, as it strengthens the joint and keeps the tension.

It is a building material, that is the rigging line itself on a spool. It serves for detailing and completing models.
