Nut with bolt shank 0.5 mm

A detail accessory for modelers of vehicles. Unlike a plain nut, this part also has a projecting shank, so it imitates a joint where the end of the bolt is visible above the nut. It is exactly such a detail that is hardest to make by hand on a model and yet is clearly noticeable in visible places. The 0.5 mm size given in the name is the finest step of the whole range.

Use

• choose a place where the projecting shank really is visible on the subject; for recessed joints use a plain nut
• drill the hole with a pin vise of a slightly smaller diameter, and the part will then hold even without glue
• cut the original molded detail off first and level the surface
• draw the spacing of the joints out beforehand, as regularity shows most in the result
• dose the glue with the tip of a pin, so that it does not run around the nut
• bring the surface into line with a primer before painting

Scale and size

Choose the size according to the scale of the build. The 0.5 mm size corresponds in 1:35 scale to roughly 18 mm of real size, in 1:48 to about 24 mm and in 1:72 to approximately 36 mm. The manufacturer also makes the same type of part in the sizes 0.7, 1, 1.2 and 1.5 mm as separate items, so the sizes can be combined according to the joints you are filling out on a model.

The accessory is supplied unpainted. Glue, paints and a pin vise are not included in the package.
