A kit of the Soviet T-34 medium tank in the production form of 1942, in 1:100 scale. The small scale is at home mainly with collectors who want a broad overview of hardware in a single cabinet with no demands on space, and with players of tabletop war games. The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted.
The T-34 was among the most significant medium tanks of the Second World War. It combined sloped armor plates, wide tracks with low ground pressure and a diesel engine, which for the time of its creation was an unusually balanced trio. Its armament was a 76.2 mm gun. The 1942 form sums up a range of production changes the machine went through during series production in various plants, which is why individual examples differ from each other in details of the hull, the turret and the running gear. For a modeler that means freedom: small deviations in the shape of the wheels or the equipment are not a mistake but the reality of series production.
In 1:100 scale cleanliness is what decides. Separate the parts carefully, rid the surfaces of flash and casting remnants and try the assembly dry before gluing: in such a small scale every gap shows more than on a large model. Choose the glue according to the material of the parts: cyanoacrylate holds castings, while for injection-molded plastic a thin plastic cement is more suitable. Paint over primer, spray the base shade heavily thinned and in several coats so that it does not run into the engraved lines. Draw the details out with a lighter dry brush and bring out the recesses with a dark wash. Keep mud and dust restrained: apply pigment rather to the running gear and the undersides of the fenders, otherwise the model quickly loses its sense of scale.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
