1:1000 K-S 9 Mezi lesiky is a small model of a Czechoslovak infantry casemate of the heavy fortifications in 1:1000 scale from the Czech maker ROP o.s.
Responsibility details are not available.
The model captures an object of the Czechoslovak heavy fortifications designated K-S 9 with the cover name Mezi lesiky, meaning between the woods. The 1:1000 scale means a finished object a few centimeters across, and the range is run so that a whole defensive line can be assembled from the individual casemates. It is published by the Czech association ROP o.s., which has long devoted itself to models of the Czechoslovak fortifications and keeps adding further particular objects to the range.
The casemates designated K-S fall into the section whose construction was directed by the engineer group command at Kraliky. The Czechoslovak heavy fortifications were built from the mid-1930s according to a single methodology: reinforced concrete objects set into the terrain, the main armament covering the neighboring casemates with flanking fire, and observation and close defense through armored cupolas. The individual objects differed in resistance, shape and the number of firing rooms according to the task they performed in the terrain. Cover names of the Mezi lesiky type referred to the surrounding ground and served to tell the structures apart.
In 1:1000 scale the result is made by the surface and the setting, not by small detail. A matte concrete base from the airbrush works well, with a darker wash into the joints and corners and a light dry brush on the edges. The object will come into its own on a small base with a contour, static grass and a few bushes, which also suit the cover name well. When building several objects from the range, mix up a stock of the concrete shade so that the whole line keeps a consistent tone.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
