A model of the Czechoslovak heavy fortification work MJ-S 16 Vybezek in 1:1000 scale from ROP o.s. completes the collector series of fortification structures.

The model represents a work of the Czechoslovak heavy fortifications designated MJ-S 16 with the code name Vybezek. It belongs to a series in which ROP o.s. is gradually issuing the individual works of the border fortifications in a uniform 1:1000 scale. The material, the number of parts and the dimensions of the finished model are stated on the box of the replica.
The reinforced-concrete casemates of the heavy fortifications were built in Czechoslovakia from the mid-1930s according to a uniform methodology. The work was designed so that the front wall facing the border was the thickest and at the same time sunk into the ground and covered with earth, while the embrasures of the main weapons fired to the flank and covered the neighboring structure. Underground quarters for the crew and observation elements were usually part of it. Every work was recorded in the documentation under the code of its construction sector, a serial number and a code name.
With fortification works it is precisely the join between the structure and the ground that decides the result, because in reality most of the volume was hidden in the earth and in vegetation. It therefore pays to mount the model on a thin board, build up the transition with modeling putty and only then paint. Treat the concrete with several close shades of gray, pull out the edges with a dry brush, put a thin dark wash into the embrasures and finally add a fine hint of moss and of earth piled at the foot of the structure. In 1:1000 scale keep the contrast restrained, otherwise the model will look coarse.
The model is supplied unpainted. Paints, glue and a base are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
