A metal wheel well set 1:144 for a model of the C-5B Galaxy from the Metallic Details brand. It adds detail to spaces that in plastic are usually no more than shallow recesses.
Responsibility details are not available.
A detail set in 1:144 scale aimed at the landing gear spaces of a model of the C-5B Galaxy heavy transport aircraft. This is not a kit but an accessory. The wheel wells (landing gear bays) are among the places where the difference between plastic and metal shows most: in plastic they tend to be empty and shallow, and the metal set fills them with the structure of walls and bracing.
The Lockheed C-5 Galaxy is an American heavy strategic transport aircraft with a high-mounted wing, a T-tail and four turbofan engines. It can be loaded from both ends, because the nose swings upward and the tail has a ramp. The C-5B version was the second production series with modernized avionics and strengthened structure. Extensive landing gear with several separate units allows operation from lower-quality surfaces as well.
The wells have to be assembled and painted before the fuselage or the engine nacelles are closed, or you will not get inside. Spray the inside in a light shade, so that it does not go black in the depth, and only then bring the detail out with a dark wash, which runs into the corners by itself. Degrease the metal walls beforehand and lay a primer on. In a dry fit, verify that the doors and the landing gear leg still pass once the well is glued in; the thickness of the walls takes a few tenths of a millimeter away. At the end, spot lighting helps; a finished well with no shadows looks flat.
This is an accessory for adding detail to a plastic kit, not a model of its own. The kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
