A decal sheet from the specialist Aviattic brand with the German naval hexagonal pattern Naval Hex in 1:144 scale, this time in a version imitating hand-painted fabric. This is not a kit: these are decals that give a miniature model a covering with the character and the irregularity of real handwork.
German naval aircraft of the First World War carried a hexagonal camouflage grid known as Naval Hex, the naval counterpart of the polygonal lozenge of the land units. Some of the covering was produced by applying the pattern to the fabric by hand: the fields then have no perfectly sharp edges, the tones ripple gently and the whole looks more alive than factory printing. That is exactly the character the Hand Painted Linen version captures, for the modeler who wants covering with the patina of real craft rather than a sterile grid.
Prepare the model with a smooth gloss surface, cut the sheet according to the drawings for the particular machine and use setting solutions so that the decal wraps the ribs and the edges. In 1:144 scale work in small parts and with a sharp blade. A final matte clear coat suppresses the sheen of the decal and lets the painted character of the pattern come through.
The decals are supplied unapplied. Setting solutions and clear coats are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
