Armament for the USS Iowa or the USS Missouri (1:200) is a set of turned metal barrels from the Polish brand Aber.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is not a ship model but a precise detail set of replacement barrels for building Iowa class battleships in 1:200 scale. The set holds nine barrels of 406 mm caliber for the main gun turrets and twenty barrels of 127 mm caliber for the secondary battery. The parts are turned from metal, so they replace the plastic barrels from the base kit with a dimensionally accurate and more faithful rendering.
The Iowa class battleships, among them the USS Iowa and the USS Missouri, carried a main armament of nine 406 mm guns in three triple turrets. The secondary battery consisted of dual-purpose 127 mm guns. It was on the deck of the USS Missouri that the Japanese surrender was signed in 1945.
The turned barrels are simply seated in place of the plastic parts. Degrease the metal parts and glue with cyanoacrylate glue; they hold paint better once a primer has been laid down. Take care that the barrels are set level in the turrets and that they are the same length.
The set is an accessory, not a complete model. The base kit, paints and glue are not included in the package.
