About product

Aber 1:200 railings of a Japanese warship of the Second World War (the first choice)

This set contains fine photo-etched railings typical of Japanese warships of the Second World War, in 1:200 scale. It is not a model of a ship but a metal accessory that replaces coarse plastic or missing railings with accurate photo-etched parts matching Japanese practice. It is made by the Polish company Aber, a specialist in photo-etched ship accessories.

What the set is for

The railings of Japanese ships had a characteristic layout, and this set captures it. Photo-etch gives the realistic thin profile that plastic cannot manage, and it rounds out the decks of models of the Imperial Japanese Navy faithfully.

Fitting tips

Nip the parts from the fret, clean them up and glue them with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). The railings can be shaped gently along the deck; degrease them before painting and go over them with a primer for metal. We recommend tweezers and good lighting.

Who the set is for

  • modelers of Japanese warships in 1:200 scale
  • anyone after realistic thin metal railings
  • builders with the emphasis on fidelity of the deck
