An injection-molded plastic kit of a car in 1:24 scale from the Japanese firm Aoshima. The subject is the Nissan Skyline 2000GT of the C10 generation with the type designation GC10 in its 1971 form, that is the inline six-cylinder version and not the race-tuned GT-R configuration. The contents of the package and the number of parts are stated on the packaging.
Enthusiasts know the C10 generation under the nickname hakosuka, after the boxy shapes of its body. So that an inline six-cylinder engine would fit, it received a lengthened nose compared with the four-cylinder versions, which gave the car its characteristic proportions. The 2000GT version with an engine of the L line was the ordinary retail configuration for customers who wanted six-cylinder comfort without the demands of the sharp variant. These cars formed the basis of the later tuning scene and they are still driven at classic car meets today.
On a classic sedan, muted period shades look more convincing than today's vivid finishes, so it pays to reach for shades that match the era. Think the chassis assembly and the ride height through before you start gluing: boxy cars look best with a small gap between the tire and the fender, but it must not stop the body being fitted. Accentuate the window frames and the trim strips with metallic paint or foil, because they are exactly what makes the period look. Apply the decals onto a gloss base and then unify the final surface with a semi-matte varnish.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
