A kit of a single figure in injection-molded plastic in 1:24 scale from the Ukrainian manufacturer ICM. The figure represents a member of the American naval special forces in a wetsuit and with equipment for amphibious deployment. Besides the plastic parts a small decal sheet is included in the package. Scale 1:24 is fairly large and the finished figure measures roughly seven and a half centimeters, so every detail of the equipment stands out.
Naval special forces are intended for operations on the water, under it and on the shore, and their equipment matches that. A wetsuit protects against hypothermia and the load-bearing harness holds magazines, a radio and other gear so that it stays usable even after coming out of the water. The figure shown matches the modern period, that is the equipment used in the last few decades.
A figure in this scale is best painted in parts and glued together only at the end, as access to the face and to the belt system is then incomparably better. Sand and fill the parting seams on the limbs carefully, because in a large scale they are otherwise clearly visible. A wetsuit looks convincing in a deep matte black with a fine dry brush of gray added, so that the edges stand out. Build the skin tones up in layers and soften the transitions with a glaze. Given the size, the oil technique also pays off on the face.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
