A small landing stage in 1:24 scale from the manufacturer MAiM is a diorama accessory for scenes at the water. It serves as the basis of a vignette with an angler, a boat or animals; it is not a kit of equipment.
Responsibility details are not available.
The accessory represents a small wooden landing stage of the kind that stands at ponds, on river banks and by cabins. It is not a kit of a vehicle or of a ship, but a separate scenic element around which a whole vignette can be built. In 1:24 a landing stage like this has a pleasant size: it is big enough to carry a figure and to work as a main feature, and yet it fits onto a small base.
A landing stage creates a natural transition between the bank and the water surface and gives a scene a compositional axis. It combines with figures of anglers, with animals, with a boat and with vegetation; on its own it works as a simple vignette for a single figure. Because a wooden stage has no tie to a particular period or country, it comes into its own in historical and present-day scenes alike.
Wood is the main theme here. Start from a light gray-brown base, then apply thinned darker glazes board by board so that no two look the same; weathered wood by the water is cool rather than brown. A dark wash will run into the seams and around the nails, and a dry brush will pick out the grain and the edges. Keep the lower part of the piles, which the water licks, darker and add algae by stippling green and olive paint. You can create the surface of the water with modeling resin or a gel medium on the finished base. Clean the parts up and degrease them before painting; on fine castings super glue holds best.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and other accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
