Yamamoto Model Parts is a Polish brand focused on accessories for car kits. A model of a vehicle is not part of it; these are replacement wheels, installed in a model that is already being built.
A multi-piece rim with a deep lip and a solid spoke face is a classic of the Japanese tuning scene and at the same time a shape an injection mold cannot cope with. A plastic rim out of a kit has a shallow lip, rounded edges and a blurred transition between the spoke face and the barrel. A replacement rim gives the model back a crisp, separate lip and a legible spoke face, and because the wheels make up more of the silhouette of a car than any other detail, the change shows at first glance.
The version on four nuts corresponds to cars with a smaller bolt pattern, that is typically to lighter and smaller models. The five-nut version of the same rim belongs on cars with a larger pattern. The difference is not cosmetic: the wheel hub is clearly visible from the side and the wrong number of nuts is, to someone who knows, the same mistake as the wrong shape of a headlight. If you are building a particular real subject, check its bolt pattern and choose the matching variant.
Take the original wheels off and dry-fit the seating first, watching the track and the clearance in the wheel arch. Before painting, wash them in lukewarm water with dish soap and spray them with a primer. Spray the spoke face for a smooth surface and set the lip apart in a polished metal shade. Put a discreet dark wash into the recesses around the nuts. Glue the wheels onto a finished, painted chassis.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The tires, the car model, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
