The Fokker Dr.I is a German fighter triplane of the First World War. Three lifting surfaces one above the other gave it a short span and agility in a turn, so it became a machine for close-in combat rather than for long flights. Its fuselage and surfaces were fabric-covered, which on a model can be told by the soft surface with the ribs suggested. Personal markings and colorful finishes belonged to these aircraft, so the choice of sheet decides the look of a model almost as much as the quality of the build.
This is a separate decal sheet for a model in the large 1:24 scale, that is an accessory for a kit. In its name it carries the designation Die alten Kanonen. Which particular machines it covers, what markings and lettering it carries and how many options you can build from it are given in the manufacturer's instructions enclosed.
Proceed as with an ordinary wet decal. Cut the element out as close to the printing as possible, immerse it for a few seconds in lukewarm water and let it rest on paper until the film begins to slide freely. The surface should be glossy, because on matte paint a silvery haze forms under the film. Slide the element into place, blot the excess water with a cloth from the center outward and draw it into the texture of the covering with a decal softener. In a large scale the markings are large and a dried film tears when moved, so place them right the first time.
Before you soak the sheet, check in the instructions whether it is not a self-adhesive version. A soaked self-adhesive film is ruined, whereas an unsoaked wet decal can be soaked afterward. What is supplied is the sheet on its own; the kit, paints and softener are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
