The Santa Maria was the largest of the three ships with which Christopher Columbus set out in 1492 on his first voyage in search of a sea route to the Indies. She was a smaller sailing ship of the carrack type, which served as the flagship of the expedition. The Santa Maria became one of the best-known ships in the history of overseas discovery.
Assemble the hull and fill the seams, then fit the decks and the superstructures. Bring the wooden surfaces to life with shades of brown and a fine wash to accentuate the planking texture. Paint the sails and the rigging in muted natural colors; it is best to place the ship on a stand for stable display.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
