A collector scaled-down model of the American XM177E1 carbine in 1:3 scale. The model is finished and serves for display, not for firing.
Responsibility details are not available.
The XM177E1 is a shortened carbine variant of the American M16 rifle of the 1960s. It came about for units that needed a more compact weapon for dense terrain and confined spaces, and it differs from the basic rifle in a shorter barrel, a revised muzzle end and a telescoping stock. Together with the other shortened versions the collective name Commando came into use.
This is a scaled-down model at a ratio of 1:3, that is roughly a third of the length of the real weapon. The model is listed in the collector range, it arrives finished and it is not intended for firing or for any functional use. It is not a kit, so gluing and painting both fall away.
Place the model in a display case or on a shelf where direct sun and damp cannot reach it. Remove the dust with a soft brush or a lint-free cloth; do not use aggressive cleaners or solvents, which could attack the surface finish. Do not put any load on small moving parts and thin projections, which are fragile at this scale.
It will be appreciated by collectors of weapons and military vehicles and by enthusiasts for the history of armed forces who want the real subject on a desk or in a display case in a space-saving size. A base, a display case and other accessories are not supplied, unless stated otherwise.
