Masks for the glazing and the insignia of a model of the Bf 109E-3 fighter in 1:32 scale, complemented by metal muzzles and barrels for the weapons.
Responsibility details are not available.
As soon as the fighting reached the snow, fighters were given a white layer over the factory finish, only not the kind a modeler would expect. A thinned lime-based or glue-based distemper was used, which could be applied with a brush or even a rag in the frost and washed off again in the spring so that the machine returned to its original coloring. The result was beautiful to look at: the white ran down the sides in streaks, flaked off around the exhausts, was worn through at the footholds and the base shades showed through on every panel edge. Winter machines therefore look worn after just a few weeks and are rewarding to build, because a mistake in applying the white is in fact faithfulness.
The set consists of cut shapes for both sides of the glazing, two masks for the national insignia and four turned parts, namely two weapon stubs from the engine cowling and two wing barrels.
The version with the number three was the first to reach combat units in greater numbers and it still carried the older shape of the cockpit canopy. That is precisely why it has a cut of film of its own: the later forms have the frames running elsewhere and a mask from them would not fit this model.
The white layer is best applied after the film is in place and sprayed thinly so that the base shows through in places. A chipping effect can be created with hairspray or with salt under the white paint. The masks are cut for the Eduard kit in this scale; a model of the aircraft is not part of the delivery.
