A 1:32 decal set for three Romanian Messerschmitt Bf 109G-2 aircraft from 1943 and 1944, with a mask for the canopy glazing in the box.
Responsibility details are not available.
Romania was among the largest suppliers of fuel for the German war machine and its refineries became the target of extensive raids. The defense was led by domestic fighter groups, which from 1943 were re-equipping with Messerschmitts of the G-2 version. Their pilots found themselves in combat against several times their number of four engine bombers and their escorts, so a whole generation of local fighter pilots grew up on the type. The sheet offers three such machines.
The first machine is the white one flying with the 53rd Squadron of the 7th Group, with which the name of Dumitru Encioiu is connected. The second carries the number 227 of the 9th Group and in 1944 Lieutenant Ion Dicezare flew it. The third is a white five of the 7th Group from 1943. All three options rest on the German combination of the shades 74, 75 and 76, but each machine has its own layout of mottling on the fuselage and on the fin, so it can be built to taste rather than to a single template.
A mask for the canopy glazing is part of the package. The cut film is laid on the frames, pressed down and sprayed straight away, which in a large scale saves a lot of laborious outlining with tape. The decals themselves slide off the paper in lukewarm water, ideally onto a base polished to a gloss beforehand. A decal softener comes in useful on the fuselage mottling, because the Romanian insignia sit in places with pronounced relief. The aircraft kit and paints are not here; the sheet is an accessory to a model.
