An injection-molded plastic kit of the famous American trainer biplane Boeing-Stearman PT-13 Kaydet in 1:32 scale from Roden. The box contains plastic parts on sprues, a clear part, a decal sheet and instructions. The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted; it is a newer tooling with fine surface relief and a detailed engine and cockpit.
Stearman (later a division of Boeing) designed the PT-13 as a basic trainer for pilot training. The two-seat biplane with a radial engine and fixed landing gear became literally a flying school desk — thousands of American pilots went through it before and during the Second World War. It was popular for its easy and forgiving handling and its sturdy structure.
Use liquid modeling cement for plastic on the joints. On a biplane the most demanding part is assembling the wing cellule and the struts — it helps to reinforce the joints and to keep the angles carefully. Do not forget the bracing wires between the wings, which give a biplane a realistic look; drawn thread or special modeling rigging line can be used. Protect the cockpit frame and the clear parts with masks and spray with an airbrush over a primer.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
