The Cessna L-19/O-1 Bird Dog floatplane version in 1:32 is an injection-molded plastic kit of the American liaison and observation aircraft in its rare float-equipped form.
Responsibility details are not available.
This injection-molded plastic kit in 1:32 scale depicts the American Cessna L-19/O-1 Bird Dog liaison and observation aircraft in its floatplane version, from Roden. The box holds the wing and fuselage parts, clear canopy framing and a decal sheet; the characteristic feature of this variant is the large floats in place of the undercarriage. The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted.
The Bird Dog was the first all-metal fixed-wing aircraft ordered by the US Army after the air force became independent in 1947. It served for liaison, observation and artillery spotting and became known for a long career in American and foreign service. The float conversion allowed operation from water where no airfields were available.
Mask and paint the canopy framing separately; the large glazed area of the cabin is typical of this type. Assemble the floats and their struts carefully and check the symmetry. Use thin cement for plastic, spray the model with a primer and paint it with an airbrush; bring out the panel lines with a fine wash.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
