A set of waterslide decals in 1:32 scale from the Czech maker AML Decals. It is not a kit or a finished model but an addition that gives an already built Spitfire a specific historical identity. The sheet offers two color options for Supermarine Spitfire LF Mk.IXe machines with the fuselage code DU, which belonged to No. 312 (Czechoslovak) Squadron RAF.
No. 312 Squadron RAF was one of the three fighter squadrons made up of Czechoslovak airmen who carried on the fight in Great Britain after 1939. It was formed in 1940, at first flew the Hawker Hurricane and later re-equipped with the Supermarine Spitfire, with which it saw out the war. The LF Mk.IXe version was tuned for low and medium altitudes and had a wing with mixed gun armament. The squadron's machines carried the code DU together with the individual letter of the aircraft.
Decals hold best on a smooth gloss surface. Varnish the area under them with a gloss coat, otherwise air gets caught under the carrier film and a matte silvery edge forms. Cut the motif out as close as possible, soak it in warm water and let it rest on a paper towel until the film releases from the backing of its own accord. On areas with rivets and engraved lines, use a decal softener and press them into the detail with a damp brush. Once dry, degrease the surface and go over it with a matte or satin varnish, which hides the edges of the film completely.
The box holds only decals. A kit, paints and glue are not included, unless stated otherwise.
