1:32 Eurofighter Typhoon FGR.4 — the 70th anniversary of the Normandy landings is a decal sheet from the Two Bobs brand. It is not a kit, but an accessory for a Typhoon model in 1:32 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The sheet brings markings for the British Eurofighter Typhoon in the FGR.4 version in a commemorative finish prepared for the seventieth anniversary of the Allied landings in Normandy, that is for 2014. The package holds decals only — the modeler obtains the plastic Typhoon kit in 1:32 scale separately. Commemorative schemes tend to be around only briefly, and you will not find them on ordinary kits.
The Eurofighter Typhoon is a twin-engine multi-role combat aircraft in a configuration with canards and a delta wing, developed in European cooperation. The designation FGR.4 is used by the Royal Air Force (RAF) for the multi-role form able to fill both fighter and attack duties. A commemorative finish for significant anniversaries is usually carried by one selected machine in the RAF, and after the season ends it is repainted into the standard gray scheme.
A commemorative finish has one peculiarity compared with ordinary markings — large continuous areas of artwork that have to line up across the whole airframe. So lay the position of the elements out dry before soaking anything and begin with the piece that determines where the others go. The surface underneath has to be gloss and hard; with light motifs it pays to spray a light color under the decal first, so that a dark surface does not show through. Soak one element at a time in lukewarm water, carry it over to the model with water under the film and blot the excess away gently from the center. Apply the decal softener only once the element is seated, and never spread it with a brush over dried film. Finally fix everything with clear.
A decal sheet, not a kit. The model, paints and glue are not included in the package.
