This item is not an aircraft kit but an accessory. It is a weapons set in resin from the Czech manufacturer Eduard of Obrnice near Most, which specializes in detailing accessories for aircraft models. It holds a faithfully made GBU-49 guided bomb meant to be hung under the wing or fuselage of a modern tactical aircraft model in 1:32 scale. The exact number of pieces in the package and any additional material are given by the manufacturer; check them before ordering.
The GBU-49 belongs to the Enhanced Paveway II family. It is a guided bomb built on a five-hundred-pound-class body, completed with a guidance kit with a dual mode, laser and satellite. Dual guidance makes it possible to hit the target even when weather, smoke or dust rules out laser designation. The weapon is carried by Western-built tactical aircraft and entered service at the beginning of the 21st century.
First wash the resin parts in lukewarm water with dish soap, because mold release agent is left on them from the mold and paint does not hold over it. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw or a cutting disc, never snap them off. They are glued with cyanoacrylate glue; ordinary plastic cement has no effect on resin. Sand wet and protect your airways while doing it. Apply a primer before painting, otherwise the shade will not sit evenly on the smooth resin.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
