The set of the Aerobonus brand holds a resin figure of a German fighter pilot of the Second World War period and a seat intended for the cockpit of a model of the Messerschmitt Bf 109G fighter in 1:32 scale. This is not a kit of an aircraft but an accessory for a model already bought. Aerobonus is the figure range of the maker Aires focused on crews and ground personnel.
The Bf 109 had a very tight cockpit and in 1:32 scale that shows: as soon as the cockpit is empty, the model looks unfinished. A figure seated in the seat supplied fills the space and gives the model a comparative sense of scale. A seat in resin tends to be thinner-walled than a plastic part out of the kit and follows the shape of the figure better, so the pilot does not sit needlessly high.
Wash the castings in lukewarm water with dish soap, cut the casting blocks off with a thin saw and sand damp with respiratory protection. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Try the assembly dry still before the fuselage halves are glued together — with a narrow cockpit every tenth of a millimeter decides. Paint in parts: the flight suit, the life vest, the straps, the helmet and the oxygen mask separately, and the face at the very end. For the fabrics, acrylics with a fine wash into the folds and a dry brush on the edges suit, and for the leather elements a richer tone with a higher sheen. If you close the model with the canopy, it is enough to concentrate the detail on the upper half of the figure; the lower part will not be visible anyway.
The figure is supplied unpainted and unassembled. Paints, glue and a model of the aircraft are not included in the package.
