Gloster Gladiator Mk.I — masks is a set of pre-cut painting masks in 1:32 scale from HGW. It is not a kit, but an accessory for painting a model.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set of pre-cut painting masks in 1:32 scale for a model of the British Gloster Gladiator fighter biplane in the Mk.I version. It is not a kit — these are masks that save the modeler the most tedious handwork of all: cutting stencils for the frames of the glazing. In the large 1:32 scale the cockpit is big and every inaccuracy in the frames shows on the finished model, so precisely cut masks are especially worthwhile.
The Gloster Gladiator was a British single-seat fighter biplane of the 1930s and the last biplane fighter in front-line service with the Royal Air Force. Against the later versions, the Mk.I had a different engine installation and propeller. Visually the Gladiator is typified by its enclosed sliding canopy — a novelty on fighter biplanes at the time, and exactly the feature that makes a masking set worthwhile.
Wash and degrease the clear parts before masking, otherwise the masks will not hold. Press the applied mask into the corners of the frames with a toothpick or the blunt tip of a scalpel. Spray the edge with the interior color first and only then with the exterior color — any bleed will then not be visible inside. Take the masks off while the paint is only touch-dry, and pull them off along the surface rather than straight up. On a biplane, mask the glazing before you add the bracing wires, otherwise you will not reach the frames.
The set contains masks only. The model, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
